A forerunner of American perfumery, which still existed at the time, Madame Lauder decided to offer a product suited to the expectations of American women. Instead of an eau de toilette, which was not among the usual purchases of Americans, Lauder launched a bath oil. With a light-hearted name, Youth Dew, the product was sold freely in drugstores, and the cap allowed the fragrance to be inhaled directly.
